Zakat Fund facilitates release of 11 debt-ridden prisoners

AMMAN — The Zakat Fund’s board of directors on Wednesday approved the payment of JD11,546 to 11 prisoners in rehabilitation centres, who have debts of less than JD2,000, in addition to their release, according to an agreement reached between the Ministry of Justice and the Public Security Department.
The decision was made during a meeting chaired by the Awqaf minister and Muhammad Khalayleh, chairman of the fund’s board of directors.
The board also approved the revamping of seven houses in different areas of the Kingdom after reviewing a report compiled by the technical committee for this purpose. The Zakat Fund’s board of directors has contributed to the release of more than 71 inmates.
