AMMAN — Minister of Culture Bassem Tweissi on Tuesday said that Jordan's online digital content related to national identity and cultural achievements “needs further development”, despite success in some topics and sectors.
During a remote seminar organised by the Great Arab Revolt Club (GARC) on the occasion of Jordan’s 74th Independence Day, Tweissi highlighted the need to develop the Jordanian historical narrative to “truly reflect Jordan's positions” as “the greatest challenge in cultural work today” is the transfer of knowledge from the traditional form into digital means, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
He pointed to the importance of cooperating with institutions specialised in archiving and documentation, and through producing dramas and documentaries portraying the Kingdom’s cultural progress in order to present the Kingdom’s narrative to the world.
“We are proud of the accomplishments developed by Jordanians over a hundred years,” he said, pointing to the role of the Ministry of Culture in fostering creativity, arts and talents, while ministry staff will be trained on cultural planning and management of cultural facilities.
For his part, GARC President Nayef Abdullat pointed to the Ministry of Culture’s cooperation with the club as a youth institution that promotes answering cultural questions.
