Time for advanced public transport system — minister

AMMAN — Transport Minister Anmar Khasawneh on Monday called for collaborative efforts to put in place an advanced public transport system.
“It is time to improve public transport to facilitate citizens’ mobility,” Khasawneh said during a meeting with the team that has been formed to evaluate the public transport and come up with suggestions to improve the sector according to international standards.
The minister stressed the role of the private sector in the efforts exerted to improve public transport.
Khasawneh also discussed ways to improve land transport with the team members who will submit working papers on the problems facing each land transport modes.
The team is made up of former transport minister Malek Haddad, presidents of the buses, public cars and car rental associations, Greater Amman Municipality’s city director and the director of the Land Transport Regulatory Commission.
