AMMAN — Revenues from the income and sales taxes reached JD1.855 billion in the first third of 2021, indicating an increase of JD373 compared with the JD1.482 billion collected in the same period of 2020, according to Hussam Abu Ali, director of the Income and Sales Tax Department (ISTD).

In a statement released Tuesday, Abu Ali pointed out that the January-April collections are 25 per cent higher than the figure achieved during the same period of last year, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

He indicated that the growth rate in revenues is the result of positive impacts of the economic recovery and tax reforms of the ISTD, such as combating tax evasion, addressing tax avoidance and expanding the tax base.
