Tarawneh meets with Chinese envoy, calls for clarification on situation in Xinjiang

AMMAN — Lower House Speaker Atef Tarawneh on Monday met Chinese Ambassador to Jordan Pan Weifang over sustaining joint parliamentary coordination.

During the meeting, Tarawneh highlighted the importance of fostering trade exchange between the two countries, urging the Chinese side to explore new investment opportunities in the Kingdom, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

He also expressed thanks for China's supportive stance to the Kingdom, which has been manifested through various development projects. Talks also went over the conditions in Xinjiang, where millions of Muslims reside, with Tarawneh calling for clarifications over the actions against Muslims.

Lauding the Kingdom's efforts towards combatting terrorism, the Chinese envoy extended an invitation to Tarawneh to visit the province and check on the conditions.
