AMMAN — A moderate air mass will start affecting the Kingdom on Friday, bringing below average temperatures and relatively cold weather at night, according to the Jordan Meteorological Department (JMD).

Temperatures will drop by 7°C between Thursday and Friday, a JMD meteorologist said, noting that an upper trough, which affected the country on Thursday and pushed temperatures slightly above their annual average of 28°C for this time of the year, were expected to taper off by Thursday night.

The moderate air mass will cause temperatures to drop 5°C to 6°C between Friday and Sunday, according to a JMD meteorologist.

"A tangible drop in temperatures is forecast for Friday. The weather will be fair in mountainous areas and moderate in the rest of the country, while skies will be partly cloudy in the northern and central regions," the forecaster said on Thursday.

Temperatures during the day will be 23°C, dropping to a low of 14°C at night in Amman, while winds will be westerly to northwesterly moderate to brisk, raising dust in the desert.

Another slight drop is expected for Saturday, when temperatures will be 6°C below their annual average during this time of the year, according to the weather forecaster.

Fair and partly cloudy weather is forecast across the country, according to the JMD, which said that temperatures will range between a maximum of 22°C and a minimum of 13°C at night in the capital, while winds will be westerly moderate to brisk, raising dust in the desert.

On Sunday, the weather is expected to remain fair and partly cloudy in most parts of the Kingdom, the meteorologist said, noting that it will be moderate in the Jordan Valley, the Dead Sea and Aqaba.

Winds will be westerly moderate to brisk and daytime temperatures will be 23°C, dropping to a low of 14°C by night in Amman, according to the JMD.
