Saudi grant to fund new water main in Balqa

AMMAN — Water Minister Hazem Nasser on Tuesday signed an agreement with the Saudi Development Fund to install a 7km water main valued at $271,000 in Balqa as part of the Gulf grant.

The project — aimed at improving water provision in Um Rumaneh, Ain Al Basha and neighbouring areas — is part of the ministry’s plans to alleviate pressure on areas crowded with Syrian refugees and to address increasing demand for water, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported. Project implementation will start immediately and will take 12 months, Nasser noted.
