Safadi, new Cypriot FM talk ties, region

AMMAN — Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi and Cypriot Foreign Minister Ioannis Kasoulides on Thursday held talks focused on means of enhancing bilateral ties and latest regional issues. 

The two ministers, over the phone, emphasised the importance of continuing work to deepen Jordanian-Cypriot relations, as the two countries will celebrate the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations during February, according to a Foreign Ministry statement.

Safadi and Kasoulides also went over the outcomes of His Majesty King Abdullah’s visit to Cyprus last December, stressing the need to follow up on its outcomes, as well as to build on the outcomes of the Jordanian-Cypriot-Greek summit, held in July, as part of trilateral coordination to serve shared interests.

The two ministers also discussed the  latest regional developments and efforts towards resolving regional crises to maintain security and stability.

Lauding the Jordanian-Cypriot long-standing relations, the Cypriot minister expressed appreciation of King Abdullah’s role in enhancing regional security and stability  

They agreed to continue coordination and consultation on issues of mutual interest to serve the interests of the two countries.

Safadi also congratulated Kasoulides on assuming his responsibilities as Cyprus foreign minister few days ago
