‘RJ aircraft diverted for technical reason’

By JT - Dec 18,2014 - Last updated at Dec 18,2014

AMMAN — Royal Jordanian (RJ) diverted on Tuesday one of its planes flying from Chicago to Amman (RJ 264) to land at London Heathrow Airport “to verify the authenticity of an engine indication”, the airline said in a statement.

Executive Assistant to the RJ president/Media and Corporate Communications Basel Kilani said the captain’s decision to land at the nearest airport was taken as a precaution.

He added that a maintenance inspection was carried out at Heathrow Airport and the technical issue was tackled “in a short period of time”.

Kilani said that the aircraft, which landed at Heathrow Airport at 14:30 Jordan local time, resumed its flight to Amman after a three-hour delay in London, according to the statement.
