‘Rise registered in tourist visits to Southern Mazar shrines’

AMMAN — Some 3,911 people visited the tombs of Prophet Mohammad’s companions in the Southern Mazar in May, Mohammad Sarayreh, supervisor of the shrines, said Monday.

The shrines of the prophet’s companions who died in Mutah Battle witnessed a rise in visitors from outside the Kingdom, Sarayreh added.

During May, the site received 2,245 foreign visitors, including 596 from Arab countries, in addition to 1,070 Jordanians, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported. The shrines house the tombs of Jafar Bin Abi Taleb, Zeid Bin Haretha and Abdullah Bin Rawaha.
