AMMAN — The environmental detectives at the Royal Department for Environmental Protection (Rangers) on Thursday foiled an attempt to sell two lion cubs.

The department was tipped-off as to the whereabouts of the three individuals who had offered to sell the cubs illegally. The Jordan News Agency, Petra, quoted Spokesman for the Public Security Department Lt. Col. Amer Sartawi as saying that the intervention came in accordance with the provisions of the law, related to environmental protection.

Sartawi explained that the three suspects were arrested in a vehicle in the Naour District, south of Amman. The cubs were handed over to the Rangers, he said, stressing that legal action will follow for the detainees.
