AMMAN — Her Majesty Queen Rania on Monday lent her support to a number of young entrepreneurs by attending the competition day of the fourth cycle of the I Know Business (IKB) awards.

Held at the Royal Cultural Centre and in collaboration with the Madrasati initiative, the Queen Rania National Entrepreneurship Competition,
IBDAA, the Yed Initiative and MENIT, the award saw the participation of 230 students from different public and private schools across Jordan, according to a statement released by Her Majesty’s office.

Before touring the gallery where students were presenting their projects, Queen Rania listened to a briefing about the award by IKB founder Suhaib Al Khawaldeh and IKB Coordinator Noor Maloul.

They explained how the award aims to build a generation of independent, confident and self-motivated leaders who can cope with the challenges of the business world and support the economy with new ventures.

The award, which welcomes participants aged between 14 and 18 years, comprises five different stages: registration, training, summer training, competition day — ready to begin and the final nominations and announcement of winners.

Throughout these stages, students, who are chosen based on a set of criteria, receive different skill-set training courses and modules that include self-development and other professional skills, the statement said.

At a later stage, participants go through a three-month summer training programme, which covers the IKB personal and life skills as well as the IKB curriculum for enterprise and planning.

On competition day, qualified students replicate the process of starting businesses in the real world. They register their ideas at a virtual ministry of industry and trade, deposit their money at a virtual bank, exhibit their ideas and present their projects to different investors, according to the statement.
