AMMAN — The Union of Voluntary Societies in Amman launched a project on Thursday to support societies, orphans, widows, underprivileged families, people with disabilities and Palestinians, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
The project titled "Adahi Al Kheir" aims to distribute meat of “adahi”, animals sacrificed during the Muslim holiday of Eid Al Adha or the feast of sacrifice, which marks the end of the pilgrimage to Mecca.
During the launching ceremony, Social Development Minister Hala Lattouf said that the project reflects “harmony in action” among societies to deliver aid to underprivileged segments of society. Dafer Bustami, the union's president, said that the project aims to prevent “misuse of initiatives” by other societies.
