AMMAN — Police on Thursday said they are searching for a 53-year-old Syrian man who allegedly killed his brother in-law in the northern Badia earlier in the day.
The suspect, who is at large, allegedly fired a single bullet at his 21-year-old in-law, killing him instantly, Police Spokesperson Lt. Col. Amer Sartawi said.
“We have a good idea of who the perpetrator is and it is a matter of time before we arrest him,” Sartawi told The Jordan Times.
The police official said the motive behind the shooting is unclear.
“We will have to wait until we arrest the suspect to learn more about the cause of the shooting,” Sartawi said.
The victim was rushed to a nearby hospital, but was declared dead on arrival, a second official said.
The Criminal Court prosecutor has been notified about the incident and criminal lab technicians have collected evidence from the scene, the second source added.
