Police arrest suspected smuggler in possession of statues, old coins

AMMAN — The Criminal Investigation Department on Friday arrested a person found in possession of statues and old coins in east Amman, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
Public Security Spokesperson Lt. Col. Amer Sartawi said that the security force arrested the suspect, who had a criminal record, and inspected the car where the statues and coins were found.
Sartawi added that an investigation was launched, and that the antiquities were moved to a specialised lab to check for historical value.
