AMMAN — The Petra Development and Tourism Region Authority (PDTRA), in cooperation with the Petra District, the West Maan Police Department and the Directorate of Public Works, on Tuesday launched a plan to regulate traffic within the Wadi Musa downtown area.

The plan resulted in opening parking lots for the development project in downtown Wadi Musa, the construction of which PDTRA has recently completed.

The project includes 180 parking lots and “contributes to significantly reducing the traffic crisis in the city-centre”, according to a PDTRA statement. Deputy Chairman of the PDTRA Council of Commissioners-Infrastructure Commissioner Abdel Moneim Abu Hilalah said that PDTRA, in cooperation with its partners, has placed traffic lights within the target area and worked to prepare public parking spaces for citizens free of charge as part of the first stage of the plan to manage traffic in the area.

Director of West Maan Police Department Col. Falah Majali confirmed that the Traffic Department began implementing the plan on Tuesday, calling on citizens to cooperate with the security authorities to ensure its success.
