Palestinian scientist Ali Nayfeh dies at 83

AMMAN — Palestinian scientist Ali Nayfeh died at the age of 83 on Monday morning in the US, according to local news outlets.
Nayfeh was born in Tulkarem, Palestine, and spent his childhood in Jordan, before moving to the US to study engineering sciences. He worked for Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University since 1967, and volunteered to teach at the University of Jordan.
He completed both his MA and PhD degrees from Stanford University in only one and a half years. In 2014, Nayfeh won the Franklin Award for mechanical engineering.
