AMMAN — His Majesty King Abdullah on Tuesday took to Twitter to assert that “no one in the Kingdom is above the law”, especially in light of the exceptional circumstances witnessed by Jordan and the world.
“I have always asserted that the law is above all, and today, in light of the conditions our country and the world are witnessing, there is no room for exceptions due to ‘wasta’ [nepotism] and favouritism”, His Majesty said in the tweet.
“Everyone, officials and citizens alike, is responsible and required to enforce the law that was founded to protect them,” he wrote, adding: “We will not allow the irresponsible actions of some, as the health and safety of Jordanians are above all else.”
