Muasher, experts discuss income tax law challenges

AMMAN — Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State Rajai Muasher on Thursday met with academicians in the financial field from various Jordanian universities to discuss challenges and gather input regarding the new income tax law.

Organised by the Centre for Strategic Studies at the University of Jordan, the conference stressed the need for the law to offer deductions in certain situations. Muasher said that the ministry is "taking into consideration the income and property of each class of citizens before issuing the new law”.

A transparent and two-way decision making strategy was also deemed crucial by the academicians, as well as the issue of tax evasion. The deputy prime minister announced that the government is drawing  “strict and comprehensive” rules that require ministers, parliamentary figures and people in charge to pay their taxes through e-government, making it “next to impossible” to evade taxes.
