AMMAN — Members of the Lower House foreign and Jordanian-German friendship committees on Monday discussed bilateral ties with Franz Rieger, chairman of the Committee on Federal and European Affairs and Interregional Relations at the Bavarian Landtag.
Head of the House Foreign Committee MP Raed Khazaleh said that Jordan has played an important role towards refugees, starting with Palestinians and more recently with Syrians, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
MP Issa Khashashneh, head of the Jordanian-German Friendship Committee, said that neglecting refugees and their needs will have dangerous consequences, in light of the growth of extremist and terrorist groups.
Rieger said that the meeting aimed to have a first-hand look at the way the Kingdom deals with refugees, noting that Germany has offered 590 million euro to help Jordan face its economic burdens.
