Ministry urges adherence to health guidelines as Kingdom continues to reopen

AMMAN — The Ministry of Health urged the public to fully abide by health guidelines and other advisories issued by concerned authorities as the Kingdom continues to reopen the economy and the public sector.

The ministry’s call comes on the heels of the government's recent decision to reopen the public sector and some economic sectors after months of closure since the COVID-19 pandemic hit the Kingdom in early March, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

The ministry advised vulnerable groups, including the elderly and patients with chronic diseases, to stay home and avoid unnecessary contact with others. It also urged citizens to wear gloves and face masks when in public or at work, avoid certain social behaviours such as kissing and handshaking and commit to washing their hands regularly with soap and water for at least 20 seconds.

Furthermore, the ministry said that events and direct meetings should be kept to a minimum at this stage and be replaced with teleconferences.

The ministry further called on employees not to hesitate to ask for leaves in case of suspected infection with the coronavirus or when feeling tired and sick, and to inform their supervisors of any respiratory symptoms.
