Meeting held on digitising wages to protect workers' rights

AMMAN — The International Labour Organisation on Wednesday held a meeting with representatives from the apparel industry and development organisations to ensure the protection of workers’ rights while digitising wages.

Mohammad Dweik, head of the digital financial services and innovation at the Central Bank of Jordan, stressed the bank’s ongoing work to issue the necessary laws and regulations that help develop digital services, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

Haitham Najdawi, head of the inspection department at the Labour Ministry, said that digitising wages helps ensure companies’ compliance with workers’ rights.

President of the Textile, Garment and Clothes Union Fathalla Emrani expressed the union’s commitment to building trust between workers and factories during the transition period.
