Media minister attends int’l communication conference in Sharjah

AMMAN — Minister of State for Media Affairs Sakher Dudin on Sunday spoke with head of UAE Government Media Office Saeed Al Attar concerning Jordan-UAE cooperation in the field of media.

During the Sharjah-held meeting, which came on the sidelines of the 10th session of the International Forum for Government Communication 2021, the two officials exchanged ideas and discussed means by which both countries could benefit from each other's expertise in media and communication, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

Talks also covered how to best use technology and social media networks to serve public issues through the enhancement of objective content to combat rumours and misinformation. 

Dudin also met Bahraini Minister of Information Affairs Ali Bin Mohammed Al Rumaihi to discuss the advancement of media cooperation and encourage expertise exchange between the kingdoms. 

During the meeting, held at the forum’s headquarters, talks drew attention to the importance of media and information education with the purpose of curbing rumours and avoiding ethical and professional misconduct.

The two officials also emphasised the importance of continuing coordination and communication to launch initiatives and project that serve pubic issues.

Heading a Jordanian media delegation, Dudin on Sunday attended the 10th session of the two-day International Forum for Government Communication 2021.

Sheikh Sultan Bin Ahmed Bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and Chairman of the Sharjah Media Council, during the opening session of the event titled “Lessons of the Past… Aspirations for the Future”, highlighted the role of the forum in enriching government work and the communication system in Sharjah over 10 years.

The event sees the participation of 79 communication experts from 11 Arab and foreign countries.
