AMMAN — The Central Arda Market in Kufranjeh in Ajloun Governorate has been closed indefinitely after a person who had come into contact with an individual infected with the coronavirus went to the market to buy agricultural products, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported on Sunday.

The buyer came into contact with several people at the market as well, New Mouadi Municipality Mayor Fandi Yasjeen told Petra, noting that medical measures have been taken and samples from those who came in contact with him have been collected.

Yasjeen noted that the municipality conducted complete sanitisation procedures on all the market’s facilities, noting that these will be carried out on a daily basis as long as the market remains closed.

The closure aims at providing a safety period to protect public health, Yasjeen said, noting that the market will not be receiving any products as of Sunday and until it is reopened.

Farmers can supply their products to the Amman central market, he added.

Head of medical affairs in Ajloun Taiseer Ennab told Petra that field investigation teams have collected 132 samples from those who came intocontact with the person, noting that on Monday, samples from vegetable and fruit merchants will be collected.
