AMMAN — As part of the celebrations to mark the centennial of the foundation of the Jordanian state, the Cabinet on Sunday declared March 2, of every year, as Amman City Day.

The decision was made to mark the arrival of His Majesty the late King Abdullah I in Amman on March 2 of 1921, as it became the capital of the Emirate of Eastern Jordan, and later the capital of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra.

In conjunction with this decision, the Greater Amman Municipality will hold a set of media and field activities to mark Amman Day. City day is an official event that has been recognised by many cities around the world, during which the history of the city and the role of its residents and visitors is highlighted.
