AMMAN — Authorities on Thursday announced the arrest of a 33-year-old man who reportedly shot his brothers, killing one and injuring another in Zarqa late Wednesday night, official sources said.
The victims received multiple bullet wounds after they were reportedly shot by their younger brother following a heated dispute while at home in the Princess Rahmeh neighbourhood of Zarqa, 22km northeast of Amman, Police Spokesperson Lt. Col. Amer Sartawi said.
The suspect fled the scene after the incident and was later arrested on Thursday, a second source told The Jordan Times.
The motive behind the shooting is still unclear, the second source said, adding that investigators are currently questioning the suspect.
Police seized a gun that was allegedly used in the shooting and sent it to the criminal lab for a ballistic match, the second source added.
A team of pathologists, headed by Ibrahim Obeidat, conducted a postmortem on the 35-year-old victim and concluded that the victim died of multiple bullet wounds to the head, chest and back, a senior medical source said.
The second brother, who was also reportedly injured in the dispute, was hospitalised and is now in fair condition, the medical source told The Jordan Times.
