Lower House committee formed to reply to speech from Throne

AMMAN — The Lower House’s ad hoc committee to reply to His Majesty King Abdullah’s speech from the Throne, on Tuesday, elected MP Fawzi Tuaimeh as head of the committee and MP Huda Otoum as rapporteur.

First Deputy Speaker MP Nassar Qaisi called on members of the committee to focus on the main issues His Majesty highlighted in the speech, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

Under the Constitution, Parliament must respond to the King’s speech from the Throne within two weeks. After the panel drafts the reply, the chamber holds a session to approve the final version of the reply.
