Jordanian student wins fourth place at Intel science fair

AMMAN — Jordanian student Yara Mirie ranked fourth in the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair (Intel ISEF) in the environmental engineering field.
Sixteen Jordanian students presented 12 projects in the event, held in Arizona in the US recently, according to a statement released Sunday by the Abdul Hameed Shoman Foundation.
Mirie, a student in the Jubilee School, designed a special net to absorb and reuse marine oil spills.
Intel ISEF is an annual event organised in the US that hosts around 1,700 students from some 1,600 secondary schools representing more than 60 countries, according to the statement.
