Jordan takes part in 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence

AMMAN — Jordan on Monday participated in the 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence launched by the Department of Women, Family and Childhood at the Arab League in cooperation with the Regional Office of the UN Women in the Arab States, the UNHCR Regional Office, in a campaign titled “Men and Women Together, It's Time to Act”, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
Assistant Secretary General for Welfare and Development at the Ministry of Social Development Mahmoud Jbour said that Ministerial Committee for Women Empowerment was formed by the Cabinet to support issues of women's empowerment, including protecting women from violence, launching the government's gender policy 2020-2025, forming a national team for protection from domestic violence, and forming a national team for social protection during the coronavirus pandemic, and the 2016 National Framework for Protection from Domestic Violence. Jabour indicated that the ministry seeks to finalise a number of agreements pertaining to the support and promotion of combating violence in all its forms.
