AMMAN — The Jordan Society for Human Rights on Tuesday launched a guidebook to help journalists tackle cases related to human rights professionally on the occasion of World Press Freedom Day, marked on May 3, a society statement said.
The various media outlets existing in the Kingdom do not necessarily mean the public receive everything they want to know about the country’s affairs or that Jordanian journalists enjoy full freedoms of expression and work, the society said.
Governments use the law to limit media freedoms under the pretext of combating terrorism and security purposes without any excuses, making freedoms only a formality, practiced only in less important fields that do not draw any criticism to official policies, the statement added.
