AMMAN — Transport Minister Hussein Al Souob and Awqaf Minister Wael Arabiyat on Wednesday held a meeting with their Palestinian counterparts Samih Tbeileh and Yousef Ideis on issues of mutual interests and means to enhance transport relations between the two countries.

During talks with Tbeileh, Souob stressed Jordan's keenness to address obstacles the Palestinian transport sector may face. He also discussed the rehabilitation of an area to be allocated for Palestinian pilgrims, transport facilitation, and the increase in commercial exchange, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

The two ministers also highlighted the importance of direct connections between both countries' railway networks, in accordance with the Arab land railway connection agreement, which was prepared by funding from the Arab League's Arab Fund for Economic and Social Development.

Souob suggested reviewing a bilateral protocol on the transport of people and goods, in order to keep up with the latest developments in the region in general and in both countries in particular.

For his part, Tbeileh expressed appreciation for Jordan's role in helping the Palestinian people at all levels, voicing his interest to increase Palestinian imports through the Aqaba Port which he described as the main port for his country's imports.

Souob stressed his ministry's readiness to provide any support or technical assistance to help improve transport cooperation between the two countries.

Meanwhile, Arabiyat and Ideis went over many issues related to Palestinian pilgrims, where Arabiyat voiced the government's keenness to provide them with the best services possible.
