Iraq interior minister meets with Jordanian media delegation

AMMAN — Iraqi Interior Minister Abdul Amir Al Shammari on Thursday stressed the importance of advancing Jordanian-Iraqi security cooperation. During a meeting with a Jordanian media delegation, invited to Baghdad by official invitation of the Iraqi Journalists Syndicate (IJS), Shammari highlighted Jordan's pivotal role and ongoing coordination with Iraq to control border crossings, prevent smuggling and eliminate terrorist hotbeds.
He highlighted the cooperation between both nations, notably in the fields of military training as well as security and border crossings, according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra. Shammari also noted that the number of visas will be increased, he said, noting that an electronic visa application system is in development.
Jordan's Ambassador to Baghdad Muntaser Oqla highlighted efforts to continue increasing communication between all parties to support Iraq's stances and principles.
Head of IJS and President of the Federation of Arab Journalists (FAJ) Moayad Lami said communication with Jordan's media institutions is ongoing, as the Jordanian media has been invited to continue to exchange expertise and share Iraq's future plans.
