AMMAN — The Lower House’s ad hoc committee to reply to His Majesty King Abdullah’s Speech from the Throne on Thursday finished drafting the reply, prior to referring it to the House in the next session for final approval.

MP Fawzi Tuaimeh, head of the committee, said that the Lower Chamber understood His Majesty’s vision for the next phase, referring to when the King advised the government to address all domestic and external developments, in a way that serves the interests of the homeland and citizens, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

Tuaimeh said that the speech outlined an important roadmap for the House’s priorities, which requires unifying all efforts to develop MPs’ performance to further enhance His Majesty’s vision.

Under the Constitution, the two Houses of Parliament must submit their replies to the King’s Speech from the Throne within 14 days.

In his Speech from the Throne on Sunday, at the opening of the third ordinary session of the 18th Parliament, His Majesty said that Jordanians deserve much more, especially in terms of health, education and transport services.

King Abdullah also said that all Jordanians have an equal right to justice and that corruption would not be left unaddressed and allowed to become a chronic social illness, affirming that the state’s institutions are capable of uprooting corruption and holding to account those who dare to encroach on public funds.
