AMMAN — Agriculture Minister Khaled Hneifat, who is also the chairman of the Agricultural Credit Corporation (ACC), on Wednesday chaired a meeting of the ACC’s board of directors, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

In the presence of board members and representatives of the private sector, ACC Director General Mohammad Hiyari presented a report on the number of cases filed against farmers who have failed to pay loan dues to the corporation, noting that the cases amounted to 1,200 cases only, constituting about 3 per cent of 38,000 loaned farmers.

The board stressed the continuation of the ACC’s policy of scheduling instalments for farmers who have outstanding arrears, noting that they must visit any of the ACC’s 24 branches spread across the Kingdom in order to make settlements appropriate to their financial situations and production seasons, noting that branch managers have been authorised to do so.

Hiyari pointed out that the volume of agricultural projects and loans financed by the ACC exceeded JD25 million during the first half of 2018, where more than 4,600 borrowers benefited from these loans.
