AMMAN — Mayor Yousef Shawarbeh on Tuesday announced that the Greater Amman Municipality (GAM) will launch a slew of projects this month in celebration of the 20th anniversary of His Majesty King Abdullah’s Accession to the Throne.

It will begin operating 135 public buses from June 22 and launch 14 new electronic services, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

Shawarbeh also said that the GAM will announce this month the launch of the bio-gas electricity-generating project at the Ghabawi landfill after attaining the required permission.

The GAM also agreed, in its meeting on Tuesday, to renew an agreement with Zain for another year starting June 31.

It will also sign a cooperation agreement with the “Wadi” Association to sustain the ecosystem. The GAM will contribute in paying half of the tender to buy PDA devices and 500 printers, which will be used in issuing traffic tickets.
