Four arrested for thefts of women’s handbags

AMMAN — Criminal Investigation Department (CID) personnel have arrested several suspects involved in snatching women’s handbags by distracting them while walking in the street, according to a Public Security Department (PSD) statement carried by the Jordan News Agency, Petra, on Monday.
Upon investigation, one of the suspects was identified and arrested. He confessed to committing 13 thefts of the sort in cooperation with accomplices in Amman and Zarqa, using a vehicle to escape the scene and divide the loot.
Three other accomplices were identified and arrested by Amman CID cadres. They all confessed to committing the thefts, the statement said, adding that an investigation is still ongoing in order to refer them to the judiciary.
