AMMAN — Criminal Investigation Department (CID) personnel on Monday arrested four suspects for their alleged involvement in various thefts, a Public Security Department (PSD) statement said.

On Sunday, Aqaba police received a report about the burglary of a house, owned by an Asian national, by anonymous suspects, with CID units immediately dispatched to the scene.

Upon their arrival, the owner’s wife was being taken to hospital after she was reportedly assaulted. She was listed in good condition.

In her statement to investigators, the woman said she was in the house when two people barged in and threatened to beat her and stole JD20,000 that was inside the house and which belonged to her husband, before escaping, the PSD statement said.

CID forensic investigators scanned the crime scene and formed an investigation team of Aqaba CID and police personnel to follow up on the case.

Investigations led to the identification of the two suspects less than 24 hours after the incident. The suspects were arrested in raids on their homes.

They subsequently confessed to committing the theft with two accomplices, who were also arrested.

A sum of JD6,000 was retrieved from the arrested suspects and the investigation is ongoing, the PSD said.

The PSD urged the public not to keep valuables and large sums of money in their homes or to tell people about them if they are hidden within the house.
