AMMAN — The Foreign Ministry on Tuesday said that, through its operations centre and in coordination with the Kingdom’s embassies in Syria and Turkey, it was following up on the conditions of Jordanians in both countries after the earthquake that struck the two nations on Monday.

Ministry Spokesperson Sinan Majali said that the ministry's operations centre is following up on three cases involving Jordanians in Antakya who were unable to be contacted. Preliminary information indicates that two of the individuals are siblings who live in a residential building reportedly damaged in the earthquake, according to a Foreign Ministry statement.

Majali said that search and investigation operations are ongoing to verify the conditions of the individuals, noting that rescue teams managed to find a third citizen in a hotel who was reported to be in fair condition.

The spokesperson stressed that the operations centre is closely monitoring the situation in coordination with the Jordanian embassies in Damascus and Ankara, and remains in constant contact with them to provide all possible assistance and give reassurance to the relatives of Jordanian nationals in the two countries.

The spokesperson reiterated that Jordanian citizens in Syria and Turkey can request assistance 24 hours a day through the emergency line of the Jordanian embassy in Ankara at: 00905484419586, the emergency line of the Jordanian embassy in Damascus at: 00963954455455, or through the operations centre at 00962795497777. Citizens can also contact the operations centre by emailing: [email protected].
