AMMAN — As small shops, markets and grocery stores opened their doors to customers on Wednesday, Khalil Haj Tawfiq, president of the Foodstuff Traders Association, said that the companies that provide food supply services are delivering commodities to them.

Highlighting the Kingdom’s “large” reserve of food sufficient to cover consumer demand for a long period, he called on the public to abide by the precautionary instructions issued by the government to protect citizens’ lives, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

About 8,000 small shops and markets operate in Amman, while 6,000 are distributed across the other governorates, he said, stressing that large trade centres and malls were not opened on Wednesday.
