AMMAN — Jordan will remain committed to multilateral action, and will continue to work with the international community “towards a future that achieves integration and builds on our common capabilities”, Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi said on Friday.

The Alliance for Multilateralism meeting was co-organised by Germany and France, through videoconference held on the sidelines of the 75th Session of the United Nations General Assembly.

Safadi highlighted the importance of multilateral action in the Middle East region that seeks to resolve the challenges of the Palestinian people, notably depriving them of their right to freedom and statehood on their national soil, conflicts, refugees, governance and the absence of peace, among others.

Strengthening multilateral action is fundamental for building a better future, which requires cooperation and effective partnerships, Safadi said during the meeting held via video conferencing, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

In the context of environmental protection and biodiversity, which are key themes on agenda of the General Assembly meetings, Safadi called for supporting the Kingdom's initiative and adopting the charter of the protection of ecosystems and living creatures, which will be proposed to the General Assembly.

Adopting this charter would be "a quantum leap" in efforts to protect the environment and biodiversity, he added.
