AMMAN — Relatives of 28-year-old Sara Zghoul, who was found dismembered and decapitated in Oregon’s Aloha in the US, on Monday condemned the “heinous crime” and called for bringing the suspect to justice.

In a statement published on the Facebook page of Zghoul’s tribe headquarters, the tribe members said they were shocked with the news that Sara had been killed, dismembered and decapitated.

“We call on the US authorities to speed up the investigation into the murder and bring the suspect to justice…Sara, according to her family members and relatives, never had any enemies and what happened is a dreadful crime,” the tribe said in the statement.

“We also call on the Jordanian government to communicate with the US authorities to uncover the crime,” the tribe’s representatives said in the statement.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs was not available to comment in spite of several attempts by The Jordan Times.

According to several US reports, a suspect was arrested and has been held in custody.

A report by The Oregonian/OregonLive citing law enforcement sources on Sunday indicated that a man from Aloha was in custody after Washington County authorities found the decapitated and dismembered body of a woman stuffed inside two suitcases in the trunk of a luxury car.

The suspect tried to slash his throat and wrists before police arrested him late Thursday night, the sources said, according to The Oregonian/OregonLive.

The Washington County Sheriff’s Office said earlier that it received word of a possible homicide perpetrated Thursday evening and later found parts of Zghoul’s body inside a black BMW near Southwest Sarala Street and Hargis Road in Aloha, the The Oregonian/OregonLive reported.

According to sources, authorities learned about a possible suspect and tracked him down to a ravine near Southwest Murray Boulevard and Southwest Teal Boulevard, where the man, who remains unidentified, unsuccessfully tried to kill himself, the sources said, according to The Oregonian/OregonLive.
