Ensour highlights opportunities of new investment law

AMMAN — Prime Minister Abdullah Ensour on Saturday said the recently ratified Investment Law was drafted with special care and effort, citing its significance to the country’s economy.
Presiding over the first meeting of the investment council, which was established under the law, Ensour said the legislation is a major economic law that aims to simplify procedures for investors.
The premier added that attracting investments is a major strategic priority for the government.
The council discussed investment policies and the pivotal role of the private sector in preparing a favourable investment climate.
The council is chaired by the prime minister and comprises 12 members representing the public and private sectors.
