AMMAN — The Water Ministry’s personnel at the Water Authority of Jordan have seized a drilling rig in Mafraq’s Al Koam Al Ahmar area, while it was illegally drilling a well. The ministry said in a statement issued on Saturday and carried by the Jordan News Agency, Petra, that a local farmer applied for a licence to clean a legal well in his property.
After receiving the approval, the owner hired a licensed drilling rig to illegally drill a new well, which reached a 40-metre depth at the time of the seizure. The ministry detected the illegal drilling, and a joint team from its personnel and the Royal Badia Forces raided the farm, seized the rig and sealed the well, referring the case to the relevant authorities, according to the statement.
