AMMAN — The State Security Court (SSC) on Wednesday sentenced five people to six to seven years in jail after convicting them of supporting and promoting ideologies of the Daesh terror group, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
The SSC looked into 30 cases related to terrorism during public hearings held in heavy security presence. During the hearings, the court listened to a number of witnesses and defensive testimonies. The SSC also saw the confession of a defendant who said he attempted to join Daesh while another confessed to hacking websites affiliated with Israel and France that he said “offend Prophet Mohammad”.
Also on Wednesday, the SSC held a hearing session for a Jordanian woman, a sister of a Karak attack suspect, over charges of supporting Daesh. The court charged her with promoting the ideologies of a terrorist group, to which she pleaded not guilty.
