AMMAN — The Canadian government on Thursday announced that it would grant $50 million in aid to help meet the needs of Jordan, Lebanon, Syria and Iraq.

In a statement carried by the Jordan News Agency, Petra, the Canadian foreign ministry stated that the Syrian crisis continues to affect millions of people in both Syria and neighbouring countries, and affirmed its commitment to supporting international efforts to sustain peace in the Middle East.

The statement added that the aid would go to UN agencies and the International Committee of the Red Cross to allow them to provide food, health and sanitary services, in addition to protecting women and providing them with reproductive health services.
