AMMAN — The Karameh-Tureibil Border Crossing with Iraq is due to reopen in two to four months, Iraqi Ambassador to Jordan Safia Talib Al Suhail said on Wednesday. Suhail said that the Iraqi cabinet on Tuesday tasked a company with ensuring the security of the international road connecting Baghdad with Jordan through the crossing, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

A joint Iraqi ministerial committee is currently considering which Jordanian commodities will be exempted from customs fees, so as to protect Iraqi products, she said. The diplomat also expressed appreciation for the Jordanian government, after it pledged to cooperate with its Iraqi counterpart to exempt Iraqis from fines for violating residency laws.
