AMMAN — Authorities on Monday said they arrested a 23-year-old man in connection with the alleged fatal stabbing of his neighbour in an Amman suburb a day earlier.
The 30-year-old victim was allegedly stabbed twice in the neck and waist while in the street in Manara suburb, a senior judicial source told The Jordan Times.
The victim was rushed to Al Bashir Hospital but was declared dead on arrival, the judicial source added.
Police Spokesperson Lt. Col. Amer Sartawi told The Jordan Times that the suspect was immediately arrested by police.
In his initial testimony to police and investigators, the suspect claimed that he had had “a heated argument with the victim over a parking space in front of their residence,” the senior judicial source said.
The suspect claimed that the argument became heated and “that he pulled a sharp weapon and stabbed the victim with it,” the judicial source added.
Criminal Court Prosecutor Mohammad Budeirat ordered the suspect’s detention for 15 days at a correctional and rehabilitation centre pending further investigations.
