AND arrests several drug smuggling suspects

AMMAN — Anti-Narcotics Department (AND) personnel have recently dealt with several cases of drug smuggling, trafficking and possession, and arrested a number of suspects, the Public Security Department (PSD) announced on Sunday.

In one case, AND personnel and security employees at the Queen Alia International Airport received a tip-off about two individuals arriving to the Kingdom attempting to smuggle drugs, according to a PSD statement.

Following up on the information, relevant personnel identified the arrival time of the suspects and arrested them in cooperation with airport security personnel. Security agents found capsules filled with cocaine inside their viscera.

Further investigation revealed their intention to smuggle the drugs outside the Kingdom, and the involvement of three other individuals in the case, two of whom were arrested. AND agents also arrested other suspected drug traffickers during raids across the Kingdom.
