5 virus cases, among them 1 local infection, recorded on Thursday

AMMAN — Five COVID-19 cases, among them one local infection, were recorded in the Kingdom on Thursday, increasing the caseload to 1,206, according to the government.

The new cases included four Jordanians who returned to the Kingdom from abroad — two from Kuwait, one from Yemen and one from Saudi Arabia — and have been in quarantine at designated hotels, a government statement said.

Epidemiological investigation teams are working to discover the source of the local infection reported in Amman. The contacts of the COVID-19 patient in Amman underwent tests and are awaiting results, the statement said. 

Also on Thursday, three recovered patients left Prince Hamzah Hospital, according to the statement.

The Ministry of Health has renewed its call on citizens to abide by precautionary measures, mainly wearing face masks and maintaining physical distancing, as well as using the “Aman” (Safety) application, which alerts users if they come into contact with a person infected with the virus.

The ministry also highlighted the “Sahtak” (your health) application for smartphones, which provides users with the latest information and news related to the COVID-19 disease, in addition to guidelines and warnings pertaining to the Kingdom’s epidemiological status.
