49 TV channels registered in Jordan

AMMAN — Jordan has 49 TV channels, 42 radio channels, nine dailies, 11 weeklies and one annual newspaper, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported on Wednesday.

There are 187 news websites licensed under the Press and Publications Law and websites registered as specialised websites amount up to around 300 sites, Petra quoted Director of the Media Commission’s licensing directorate Majd Al Amd as saying.

Statistics showed the commission granted licences to 175 centres specialised in research, 16 centres to survey public opinion, 362 publication and distribution houses and 209 translation houses. Amd said that technical production and distribution companies amount up to 303 companies, and added there are 321trading works offices and 21 cinemas.
